How about immediate or instant response when valve testing?   I've just implemented a new feature, "Imediate Valve Test" which allows instant on/off of single zones with a run time range of 10 to 90 seconds per zone for testing and maintenance.  This is implemented on the LawnCheck SmartPhone site: http://cell.lawncheck.com

To use this you need to have a fairly modern router with some mostly standard features and you have to configure your router.  For most this is fairly easy, and it is also secure.  I think this is the best alternative for testing because you can access through Wifi or your phone connection to the Internet.  In addition you can give the share code to your landscape people and they can perform the tests through their smartphones without accessing your Wifi.

There will be a one time fee for this feature, eventually, but if anyone on the board is interested I'll activate your account for immediate valve test for no charge as beta testers (once activated it's yours, no charge).  Test period expires August 1, 2011.

Post here if you are interested.

Feature Requests / Re: "chain" two devices together

I now have 2 controllers, add me to the list.
Having all 16 zones display in a Program would be great.

Hi Mark,

The LawnCheck scheduler only supports 8 zones per device .  We have had requests to extend to 16 so that one program can manage 16 zones coordinated between 2 controllers,  but haven't accomplished this yet.

For now you have to set the schedules for each controller by creating a separate device within LawnCheck for each controller, and then manage the cycle times so only one is on at a time (unless you have excellent water pressure)

Hi Mark,

Yes, you can, but you should use the three controller connect kit.  If you have the two wire connect kit, please send it in and we'll send out a three controller connect kit.  Just send in the rain sensor connector, not the power connector.  Contact me via LawnCheck or QuickSmart mail form.

Cheers,

I have thought of requesting this as well, just never got around to it.  I think it would be very helpful.

Do you have stats on how often people request a quick cycle?  It doesn't seem like a couple of people using it at the same time would hurt the server, although if everyone decided to run a test at the same time Saturday morning I could see how it would be a problem :)

Hi Gangee,
If you don't see a weather block in the log then the cycle most likely ran.  The temperature number that is used to determine if a block should occur is the forecast high for the day, not the current temperature.  Here's a view of the log for my controller:  (I've modified my account number for this post, but all of the other data is straight from the log)

You can see that the irrigation didn't run all of the April due to cool weather or rain.
Hope this helps.

Hi Jim,

I had Programs set to run early this morning. I have "Off if Cool < 50" set. I'm guessing, but I can't say for sure, that the temperature was less than 50 degrees when the Programs were set to run. But I look in my log, I can't see a weather block entry.

How is a Temperature block noted in the log?

Thanks,
